New Year, New Blog
Hey everyone, happy New Year! It's been a while since I've posted on here. I decided to revamp my blog design for the new year, and I feel more inspired to keep up with posting on a semi-regular basis. My goal is to post twice a month. I've had some trouble figuring out what kind of posts to do since I have my YouTube channel for bookish posts. I always wanted this blog to be a supplement to my channel and post when I either don't have time to make a video, or feel the topic is better suited for a blog. If you have any suggestions for blog posts, I would love to hear!
On a more personal note, here are some life updates.
I have completed 3 semesters of pharmacy school, I'm about to start the last semester of my 2nd year. I've truly loved graduate school. I moved to a new city (3 hours away from home) and lived on my own with a roommate for the first time. It was definitely out of my comfort zone, but allowed me to grow and become more independent. I've also made some amazing friends and memories. While it has been new and fun, it's also been extremely stressful. I'm someone who always strives to be the best student I can be. I've done well, but it's hard for me to accept that it's okay to not do so well sometimes. This is something I hope to embrace more in the new year. I have a year and a half left of classes and then 1 year of rotations in various fields of pharmacy. I will graduate May of 2020.
I'm also working in a retail pharmacy about 8 hours a week during school and more on breaks, so life is definitely keeping me busy.
In 2017 my parents also moved to a new state. They live right across from the beach now, which is absolutely beautiful. However, this has changed my definition of home. Their new house is 6 hours away from my school and 4 hours away from my "home" city where my family, friends, and boyfriend are. Needless to say, I've been on the road a lot going between those 3 cities in the last few months. I do enjoy driving, so that's good. I've also discovered a new love and appreciation for audiobooks. I adored listening to the last half of the Lunar Chronicles series on audiobook while driving. Anyway, if you watch my YouTube videos, this is why my background is always changing, haha. It's been an adjustment for sure, but it's been good.
Reading and remaining active on YouTube has been a wonderful escape and hobby for me during school. Sometimes it does feel like an extra task when I would rather just watch Netflix or sleep in my "free time". However, I like being productive in an area that has nothing to do with pharmacy. I never get bored and it provides me with personal satisfaction. I do want to spend more time reading this year, though. Not necessarily read more, just allow myself the time to fall into a book for a little while each day. It's hard to do something other than study (even if I've been studying for hours) without feeling guilty. I want to be a little more lenient on myself in this area. I feel like I do have the time to devote 30 minutes each morning or evening to doing something I love. We all do.
Well, I think that's all of my updates. I hope all of you are having a great start to your new year. Let me know your goals and what is going on in your life! Thanks for taking the time to read this post.
